As the saying goes, "All God's children have a place in the choir," and that is definitely true at St. Matthew Lutheran Church where we are committed to using the gift of music, not for performance, but for worshiping God and leading the congregation in their song. Opportunites include:
Junior Youth Choir
The Junior Youth Choir is open to students in grades 2 - 6. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings during the school year, 6:00 - 6:30 followed by 6:30 - 7:00 pm junior youth group activities.
Adult Vocal Choir
The Adult Choir leads worship every week from September through May. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings, 7:30 - 9:00 and as needed for special concerts and holidays. All members are welcome to participate in the choir. High school students are also encouraged to join the choir once they have been confirmed.
Handbell Choir
The Handbell Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings, 6:30 - 7:30 and is open to all members from high school on up. The choir accompanies worship at least one time per month and on festival Sundays. Those interested in joining should speak with Cantor, David Harp. If you can count to four, you can play in the bell choir.
Sunday Musical Assistants
The Musical Assistant has responsibility for leading the singing of the liturgy, psalms and any other portion of the worship service as assigned by the Pastor and/or Cantor. The Assistant must be able to sing in tune and, occasionally, without accompaniment. Those interested in being a Musical Assistant should contact David Harp.
